During her 30 years at Georgia Humanities, Laura touched nearly every aspect of our work: nurturing local organizations through our grants program, mentoring countless students and teachers as coordinator of National History Day Georgia, and ultimately, as president, leading the organization with kindness, compassion, and a remarkable ability to bring people together for the greater good. 

In honor of Laura’s legacy, we are renaming our National History Day fund in her memory. The Laura T. McCarty Fund for National History Day Georgia will continue the work she cared about most: supporting students and educators as they explore history, share their stories, and experience the enduring power of discovery.
