Georgia Humanities seeks to share the stories that move us — that inspire us to take action or to reach a new understanding — and make us — that capture the voices of all Georgians, from our past and from today.
Georgia Humanities is a nonprofit organization that serves all the people of Georgia. Your gift to Georgia Humanities supports the online New Georgia Encyclopedia, the National History Day in Georgia program for grades 6–12, the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street traveling exhibition program, the Prime Time Family Reading Time literacy program, book publications about the history and culture of the state, the grant program that awards funding for humanities programming around the state, and much more.
Our Mission
Georgia Humanities connects people and communities to encourage understanding and inspire hope.
When you choose to make a gift to Georgia Humanities, you choose to support programs that explore history, culture, music, drama, philosophy, literature, and historic preservation. You choose to support lifelong education and literacy. You choose to support exhibitions, conversations, lectures, and publications that search for meaning from the past and the present in the hope of discovering a better path for the future. You choose to support our efforts to understand what it means to be a Georgian, an American, a citizen of the modern world, a human.
Thank you for your generosity!

“Georgia Humanities deserves as much support as we can provide. Their enthusiasm for history and the way it shapes our lives today is infectious but also important, and the perspective and awareness Georgia Humanities brings to Georgia’s civic life is a needed service to our state.”
– Elyse Klova, Georgia Humanities Donor
