Southern Writers Onstage: Women Black and White series
This series of readings/performances tells the story of the Southern American woman – black and white – through the writings of Southern American women. Atlanta actress Bernardine Mitchell presents Toni Morrison’s short story “Recitatif,” which chronicles the life stories of two girls, one white and one black. The girls are written without any race markers, leaving the reader to wonder. Southern Writers Onstage was developed by Dr. Pearl McHaney of Georgia State University.
This event is supported by a grant from Georgia Humanities.
