Power to the People: Celebrating 80 Years of Rural Electricity

Witness a reenactment of FDR’s speech on the grounds of Gordon Military College in Barnesville 80 years ago for the dedication of the first rural electric membership cooperative. This event opens an exhibition on rural electrification in Georgia. Special guests include Wayne Clough, former secretary of the Smithsonian Institution and president emeritus of Georgia Tech, and Haven Luke, great-grandson of President Roosevelt.

This special event takes place at 10 a.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium at Gordon State College.

The exhibition will be on view at Guillebeau Hall,  Stafford Avenue, at Gordon State College, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
