Overview

Georgia Humanities supports the efforts of nonprofit organizations seeking to foster connections between people and ideas. Through a competitive process, we award grants to such cultural, civic, and educational entities as museums, libraries, universities, and historical societies for a range of projects, including walking tours, exhibitions, author talks, lecture series, and literary festivals. Proposed grant programs can also be virtual!

Guidelines and Eligibility

Georgia-based nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $2,500 to support humanities programs. Programs must involve at least one humanities scholar, bring the public together for discussion and exchange, and be designed for and open to public audience(s).

Grant Deadlines

Georgia Humanities offers two application cycles each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The Fall 2022 cycle closed on September 30, 2022, and recipients have been notified. Due to the robust number of grants that we onboarded in Fall 2022, Georgia Humanities will not be facilitating a Spring 2023 grant cycle, and will instead, focus on supporting current active grants. Opportunities for new grants will resume in September for our Fall 2023 cycle.

Please be advised that as of September 2021 we are using a new grant management system. All organizations, including those who received Georgia Humanities grants before the implementation of the new system, will need to register to apply in future grant cycles.
