SUMMARY:Atlanta Premiere of "The Harvest" Documentary
DESCRIPTION:Georgia Humanities has partnered with Georgia Public Broadcasting to present the Atlanta premiere of “The Harvest\,” a documentary by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and filmmaker Douglas Blackmon. The film reflects on his experiences as part of the first integrated class to attend all twelve grades together in Leland\, Mississippi. \nJoin us at the Rialto Center for the Arts on September 7\, 2023. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the screening begins at 6:30 pm. After the film\, participate in a post-film discussion with filmmakers Blackmon and Academy Award-nominated producer Sam Pollard\, moderated by Dr. Clarissa Myrick-Harris of Morehouse College. \nThe event is free\, but tickets are required. Reserve yours now from Georgia Public Broadcasting. \nMajor funding for the production of “The Harvest” was provided in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. In partnership with Georgia Humanities\, the Wilbur and Hilda Glenn Family Foundation and the Rich Foundation have also provided generous support for public engagement\, conversation\, and educational resources related to the film and Georgia’s stories of school desegregation.
