DESCRIPTION:Threshold New Play Festival \nThe Threshold New Play Festival is a lineup of new play readings by Georgia writers poised to make a mark on the national scene. In the first reading of the series\, Actor’s Express will present “Borderstone” by Natasha Patel. “Borderstone” is a thriller\, set in the future\, where employees of the fictional Border Motel are in search of a stone that could aid their escape from their hotel’s constant re-sanitation. \nEach reading of the Threshold New Play Festival is free and open to the public\, but pre-registration is advised. \nThe Threshold New Play Festival is supported in part by a grant from Georgia Humanities.

SUMMARY:Crossroads: Change in Rural America Grand Opening in Cuthbert
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads: Change in Rural America Grand Opening in Cuthbert \n \nCrossroads: Change in Rural America is the latest Museum on Main Street exhibition to travel across Georgia through a partnership with the Smithsonian Institution’s Traveling Exhibition Service and state humanities councils nationwide. The partnership provides small and rural communities access to Smithsonian traveling exhibitions\, and local communities host the exhibitions and organize accompanying programs. \nCrossroads: Change in Rural America debuts in Cuthbert on January 18 and will remain for six weeks at Andrew on the Square in downtown Cuthbert. \nThe Cuthbert grand opening will include guest speakers and musical performances. \nThe exhibition is free and open to the public to attend\, and will be on display in Cuthbert through February 29\, 2020. \nLearn more about Crossroads in Georgia.

DESCRIPTION:The 10th Henry D. Green Symposium of the Decorative Arts \nThe theme of the 10th Henry D. Green Symposium of the Decorative Arts is “Georgia Matters: Celebrating Two Decades of Scholarship\,” to be held January 30–February 1\, 2020\, at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education and Hotel in Athens. \nThe keynote address on Thursday\, January 30\, will feature Daniel Ackermann\, and will be followed by a reception at the Georgia Museum of Art\, host of the accompanying exhibition Material Georgia 1733–1900: Two Decades of Scholarship.  \nThe symposium\, held on Friday\, January 31\, and Saturday\, February 1\, will include presentations on Georgia portraiture\, colonial Georgia silver\, Masonic symbolism in Georgia\, porcelain decoration\, and historic preservation on the University of Georgia campus\, among others. \nThe 10th Henry D. Held on the campus of Andrew College\, the event will feature speakers Dr. Cully Clark\, author and retired dean of the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication\, and Dr. Charles Roberts\, author and professor at Andrew College. Local elected officials will participate in a forum following the lecture. \nThis event is free and open to the public.
