SUMMARY:Southern Writers Onstage: Beyond Black and White
DESCRIPTION:Southern Writers Onstage: Beyond Black and White series \nThis series of readings/performances tells the stories of the contemporary South\, and the diverse southerners who make it an interesting place to live\, through the writings of southerners who claim heritage beyond black or white. Author Craig Womack\, a Muscogee Creek-Cherokee\, reads from his novel Drowning in Fire. \nAll performances take place at the Balzer Theater at Herren’s (the first LEED-certified theater in the United States and Atlanta’s first restaurant to integrate its tables voluntarily)\, home of Theatrical Outfit\, at 84 Luckie Street\, Atlanta. Events are free and open to the public. Southern Writers Onstage was developed by Dr. Pearl McHaney of Georgia State University. \nThis event is supported by a grant from Georgia Humanities.
