We The People

An initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities, We the People strengthens the teaching, study and understanding of American history and culture. In Georgia, We the People supports:

• GHC grant program applications focused on American history(We the People funded grants have grant numbers ending with the letter "W".) View a list of previously funded GHC grants.

• Georgia: Our Past, Present and Future- a GHC and Scholastic teacher's kit (poster and lessons) using the New Georgia Encyclopedia. Request this free teacher's kit from GHC.

• Key Ingredients: America by Food-a nationally touring Smithsonian exhibition, hosted in our state by the Georgia Humanities Council. The exhibition is a project of Museum on Mainstreet (a partnership between the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Institute). • Georgia Center for the Book partnership- supports reading and discussion programs in libraries and communities across Georgia through 12 one day programs and the Georgia Literary Festival. These programs feature scholars, novelists, poets, or biographers who will facilitate conversations about books that deal with American history or literature.
