Governor's Awards

Nomination Information | 2008 Awards  |  Past Recipients | The Annual Humanities Lecture

Each spring the Georgia Humanities Council honors the "humanities heroes" of our state through the presentation of the Governor's Awards in the Humanities. The Governor presents these awards to individuals and organizations who build community, character, and citizenship in Georgia through public humanities education.

Recipients of the Governor's Awards in the Humanities are nominated by the public, reviewed by a committee of the Georgia Humanities Council Board, and selected ultimately by the Governor. Presentations occur at a luncheon at the Old Georgia Railroad Freight Depot in downtown Atlanta. Hundreds of citizens from around the state attend.

To nominate a person or organization in your area, see the "nomination information" section above.
