From Our Past, In the Present, For the Future
These new grants provide up to $2,000 for humanities programs. The application deadline is November 1, 2011.
The Georgia Humanities Council seeks applicants for From Our Past, In the Present, For the Future. This grant supports public programs that explore the traditions, stories, and ideas that shape us—as a people, as communities and as a society.
Examples of potential programs include:

lectures or author presentations

book discussions
-
film discussions
-
walking tours
-
living history programs
-
interpretive signage for a historic site

oral history training or collection
-
professional museum or archival consultants for volunteer-run groups
-
educational activities for children and families
Funding up to $2,000 is available.
Postmark Deadline: November 1, 2011
Program requirements:
- Focus on a humanities topic
- Involve at least one humanities scholar
- Include at least one gathering where members of the public come together in learning and discussion
- Provide for matching support (cash or in-kind) equivalent to or greater than the amount of the grant requested
- Be free and open to the public
- Activities must take place on or after February 1, 2012
