The Learning Center at Senior Citizens, Inc., $10,000.00
Three, nine week terms of courses featuring scholars and content specialists will be kicked off by Dixie Carter. The courses are open to the community.
Sandersville, Washington County Historical Society
Early Hand-Thrown Pottery of Washington County and Georgia, $5,000.00
A folk pottery exhibit focuses on pottery and potters of Georgia and the regional area around Washington County. Based on an update of their existing displays at the historical society, the project also includes developing an exhibit catalog.
Lumpkin, Historic Westville
Historic Westville Interpretive Panels, $6,000.00
Twelve interpretive panels in 12 buildings in Historic Westville give an overview of the history of the area. When completed the exhibition will open in the village church.
Sautee, Sautee Nacoochee Community Association
Taproots: Stories From A Goodly Portion of Beautiful Northeast Georgia, $5,000.00
This oral history project makes transcripts of the interviews available at the Sautee Nacoochee Community Center. The project also incorporates performances of a play based on these oral histories as well as a DVD and enhanced website.
Darien, McIntosh Sustainable Environment and Economic Development
The Importance of Harris Neck, $3,000.00
An expanded tour of the Harris Neck community features programming around the history of the area.
Morrow, Clayton State University
Supernatural Shakespeare, $6,000.00
Based on the supernatural aspects of Shakespeare’s work, a festival at Clayton State University includes an original play, a series of discussions, a sonnet contest, and a "Green Show" on the grounds featuring a wide-array of presentations.
Atlanta, Fernbank Museum of Natural History
The Search for Santa Isabel de Utinahica Traveling Exhibition, $6,000.00
A traveling exhibit tells the story of Santa Isabel and the Utinahica peple of South Georgia (ancestors of the Creek Indians), through history and archaeological findings. The project will tour the state, featuring speakers and discussion.
Macon, Friends of the Douglass Theater Complex, Inc.
The History of the Douglass Series: African American Spiritual Traditions in the 20th Century, $3,000.00
This is the 3rd installment of their continuing series featuring lectures, films, discussions and the gathering of oral histories- all pertaining to African American religious movements and traditions established in the early 20th Century.

Telling Our Stories: Archiving, Describing and Creating Theatre in Georgia, $2,000.00
An establishment of an archives centered around Georgia Theatre in the Odum Library at Valdosta State, includes a 2-day series of workshops and presentations on different groups and areas of Georgia highlighted in their collection.

The Center for African-American Male Research, Success and Leadership presents two speakers, actor and Harvard law graduate, Hill Harper and author Dr. Michael Eric Dyson.
Valdosta, Valdosta Asian Cultural Association, Inc.
Azalea International Cultural Experience, $4,000.00
This festival features exhibitions, presentations, workshops and demonstrations to celebrate, honor and familiarize the community with Asian culture.
Savannah, Ossabaw Island Foundation
The Atlantic World and African American Life and Culture in the Georgia Lowcountry, 18th and 20th Century, $10,000.00
A 2-day symposium features ten speakers/scholars who will address various issues of African-American life and culture in the earlier days of the Georgia Lowcountry. The symposium is accompanied by tours, book sales, local speakers and performers and other activities that relate to the symposium topics.
Brunswick, Brunswick-Glynn County Library
Alexander Hamilton: The Man Who Made Modern America, $2,800.00
A national exhibit on the life and times of Alexander Hamilton will show alongside three public lectures by Georgia scholars. This program also features documentary films that tie into the subject.
Jonesboro, Historical Jonesboro/Clayton County, Inc.
143rd Anniversary "Battle for Jonesborough", $5,470.00
A family history weekend is planned with the Battle of Jonesboro re-enactment. Local historians speak about different elements of the battle and surrounding countryside and a candlelight vigil is planned at the Confederate Cemetery.
Albany, Albany Civil Rights Movement Museum
Southwest Georgia Freedom Story: Oral History Initiative, $4,000.00
The "Freedom Core SW GA Oral History Collection" program enables school children to interview and collect oral histories of individuals who participated in the Albany Civil Rights Movement. Part of the interviews focus on the "stolen girls", 33 high school girls jailed at the time of the movement for over a month for their involvement. Oral histories will be presented. Artist workshops are part of the project.
Athens, Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia, Inc.
Girl Scouts Council-Wide World Thinking Day, $5,000.00
2007-008G, "Wide World Thinking Day" features presentations on countries around the world and invites university exchange students from other countries to share their experiences with the girl scouts. Live performances and scholar presentations are also included.

Southwest Georgia Southern Rural Black Women's Living History, $5,000
Living histories based on the lives of Georgia women to be inducted into the Southern Rural Black Women's Hall of Fame are being collected to accompany a traveling Hall of Fame exhibit currently being produced.

Southeast Georgia on Our Minds, $4,400.00
A series of eight community discussions cover topics in literature and history. Some of them explore on SE Georgia history. Each session is led by a faculty member of the college and is held at the library.

Savannah Book Festival, $6,000.00
This one day event includes a variety of author's discussions taking place around the city. They will also have children's storytellers and musical entertainmemt.
Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County Public Library
Gwinnett Reading Festival, $5,000.00
Author presentations, workshops, book discussions, and vendor's booths are included in this one day event. Also included are "Gente Y Cuentos", their popular Spanish reading program, and activities for children of all ages.

2007-014G, A community-wide reading program based on Maya Angelou's, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" features a talk by Dr. Angelou, panel discussions, a website and a film showing.
Warner Robins, Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame
Georgia Aviation - 100 Years of Flight Display Project, $3,600.00
An exhibition is planned to commemorate the anniversary of flight in Georgia, the exhibition will travel to Georgia airports of all sizes. At the end of the year the displays can be requested by schools and museums.
Marietta, Aviation Museum at Marietta, Georgia
History of Aircraft Manufacturing in Metropolitan Atlanta: An Oral History Project, $3,000.00
With the public history program at Kennesaw State University, this oral history project focuses on the history of aircraft manufacturing in the Atlanta area, specifially the former Bell Bomber plant in Marietta, its workers, plant production and impact on the aircraft industry. KSU students interview former workers and present their research to the public through a series of programs.
Macon, Hay House/Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation
Elegant Light: American Stained Glass of the 19th and 20th Centuries, $1,500.00
A one day seminar examines the history of stained and painted glass in America over the past two centuries. Speakers, authors, book signings and a self-guided tour of downtown Macon's stained glass are included.
Savannah, Coastal Heritage Society
Revolutionary Perspectives Lecture Series, $2,000.00
This series includes lectures on the French Navy, Jewish Revolutionaries in Savannah and the Seven Years War.

Atlanta, Weber Jewish Community High School
Pentimento: The Art of Honoring and Transmitting Oral History, $1,000.00
A series of events honors Jewish women in the community who have been interviewed by Weber students. Events include: oral-history based workshops, a keynote address by the director of the Jewish Women's Archive in Boston, a discussion panel consisting of the women interviewed, art exhibits and family food demonstrations- all with student involvement.
Atlanta, Mercer University - Monroe Swilley Library Archives
Connecting Histories: Evaluation of Theology and College of Arts and Sciences Archival Materials, $1,000.00
2004-155G, An experienced archivist updates the library’s archival collection policies and current holdings. After an assessment has been made, the library will host a series of receptions introducing the school and community to their holdings.
Dahlonega, North Georgia College & State University
Photographic Plate Project, $1,000.00
With the help of professors, this project preserves and exhibits a collection of 88 vintage photographic plate negatives that date back as far as the 1890s. The images are of cadets from the college.

Classes on Spanish language and culture are offered at the library and are taught by a Spanish language teacher from Augusta Preparatory School.

The Looting of the Iraq Museum: A Curator's Perspective, $2,000.00
As part of a collaboration with Augusta State University, Corine Wegener (a curator from Minnesota who aided in the recovery of artifacts at the Iraq National Museum and from the Jewish Archives in Baghdad) gives two separate presentations on each of her experiences.

The 2nd installment of a program funded last year for underprivileged women features three female authors, a chamber music quartet, and a chance for participants to get library cards.

Looking At: Jazz, American's Art Form, $1,000.00
The Athens-Clarke County Library introduces a program on the history of jazz. The program includes a series of documentary films with discussions led by topic scholars. They also will have author, David Fulmer, who has written about jazz, and plan to have a display and one concert with a University of Georgia jazz trio.
Kennesaw, Kennesaw State University
Remembering the Roma: Holocaust to the Present, $1,969.00
Kennesaw State University's Holocaust Education Program explores the Romani (or gypsies) people. The project features a lecture by Dr. Ian Hancock, a Romani expert. They will also have an exhibition of photos taken by Jan Yoors prior to WWII. They hope to include area teachers who teach the Holocaust in their schools by inviting them to attend the program.

Diversity of Coastal Georgia Archaeology, $2,000.00
This one-day symposium in historic Midway explores the diverse nature of Georgia's archaeology. A variety of experts in the field lead the session discussions.
