Grant Making

Through our competitive grant-making program, the Georgia Humanities Council provides financial support for cultural and humanities-based educational programs which are developed and carried out in local communities. Our goal is to support projects which bring Georgians together in learning and discussion to strengthen local communities.

Our grant program provides awards in varying amounts to nonprofit organizations, including museums, libraries, historical societies, community groups, schools, government agencies, and colleges and universities, to support public programs in many formats in communities across Georgia. We want to support innovative programs which tell and cause people to think about the stories which are important to their local area and the world. Our requirements are that you plan thoroughly a program which uses the humanities to impact your community. We want you to identify groups and individuals who will come together to help you to meet your goals. We also want you to find and take advantage of other sources of support which are available to help you carry out the program, so that local support shares in the cost of doing this important work.

In this area of our site, grantees can download forms to manage their grants. Visitors may also look at a list of past awards.

Please note that for the remainder of 2009 the Georgia Humanities Council will not be accepting grant proposals. The board and staff are conducting a strategic reassessment of the GHC grant program and will announce new guidelines and a revamped grant program for 2010.
