Harriet Powers Week includes:
Sunday, October 24 - 3:00-4:00 p.m. -Storytelling for the family in the library auditorium with a craft project presented in the children's area.
Tuesday, October 26 - 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. -Brown bag luncheon presentation by Diane Barret who will discuss the work of Powers and Mary Brown, two African-American quilters celebrating centennials in 2010. This will be held in the small auditorium in the library.
Wednesday, October 27 - 4:00 p.m. - Young adults, age 11-18 have a "wild card Wednesday" with a focus on Powers. Teens will be given an opportunity to make quilting squares depicting topics of interest to them. The finished product will go on display in the library.
Thursday, October 28 - 7:00-8:00 p.m. - An evening of African-American musical performers featuring the Voices of Praise and Teresa Haynes with Spiritual Harmony. Event will be in the auditorium.
All events are free and open to the public.
